By Sam Bushman
My fellow Americans, happy to have you along. I had Lowell Nelson from CampaignForLiberty.org riding shotgun with me today on Liberty RoundTable Live, and we got into hard-hitting news the networks refuse to use: judges, Amendment B in Utah, dark money, war profits, and whether America is a constitutional republic or a failing military empire.
Vote Against Judges Unless You Know Better
I opened by saying vote against judges whenever you get the chance, ladies and gentlemen. It's always making sense. In Utah, I said vote no on Judge Jill Pullman. Lowell reminded us that when she was on the Utah Supreme Court, it was a four-to-one decision to defer to Planned Parenthood and to the so-called right of the mother to her own body versus the right of the unborn to live.
I said the whole purpose of government is to protect life. The Constitution is about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and this is just the opposite. Lowell said he votes no on all judges unless he has a really good reason to vote yes, and I agree. Unless you know a judge and you know they are a good judge because you've seen great things come from them, vote them out and give somebody else a try.
We've learned how interfering and lawfarish these judges can be. They don't just sit quietly in the background. Too many of them become activist judges. They don't say, "I have to follow the law." They act like, "I am the law." Lowell pointed out we have watchdog groups watching legislators, but not many scoring judges. And with about 98 percent of cases plea-bargained away, and only about 2 in 100 going to trial, it is hard for people to know what these judges really do. But when a judge chooses death over life, that is reason enough to remove them.
Yes on Amendment B and No to Super Laws
The issue is a Utah Supreme Court decision from 2024 that says a citizen initiative, once approved, becomes law that the legislature may not touch. Lowell called it a super law. I said, imagine a law the legislative body didn't make that they can't change. Then I stopped right there and said citizens don't make law in the United States. That's not how it works.
We delegated lawmaking authority on purpose. We are a constitutional representative republic, not a democracy, not mob rule, not a system where viewpoints and votes get bent with money, finances, or promises. Public servants are supposed to measure everything against the supreme law of the land, the Constitution on the general level and the state constitution on the state level.
Dark Money and the Amendment B Fight
The numbers matter. Lowell said millions of dollars are backing the campaign against Amendment B. Major contributors include national progressive organizations, labor unions, and Utah's progressive political network. Disclosed grants connect several contributors to the 1630 Fund, a progressive dark money hub.
Who Is Making Money From War?
I asked, who is "we"? Not me. Not Lowell. Not the American people. Lowell quoted Ron Paul saying Trump meant the part of the private sector directly or indirectly in bed with the government war machine. Oil companies, weapons manufacturers, and everything in between make profits from war and conflict at the expense of the rest of us.
Lowell listed the record: 20 years in Afghanistan, a similar length in Iraq, endless bombing in places like Somalia, a 12-year-and-counting proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, military bases and covert operations across the globe. I said we are in a constant state of war, the military-industrial complex is out of control, the American people aren't making a fortune, and we are $40 trillion in debt.
Lowell also made a powerful point. If Congress gave the Supreme Court authority to declare war, everybody would say that is unthinkable. So why is it not unthinkable that Congress gives that authority to the President? Congress has no permission to give away its authority.
A Constitutional Republic or a Failing Military Empire?
Judge Andrew Napolitano called it America's deadly addiction to war. Since 1950, presidents of both political parties have sent American troops into conflicts across the globe, killed countless people, sacrificed American servicemen and women, and wasted trillions of dollars. Are we safer, more secure, more prosperous, more peaceful? No. We have crushing national debt, more enemies, diminished liberty, and a government that refuses to follow the Constitution.
I said the Constitution gives Congress, did I say Congress, yes I said Congress, the responsibility to declare war. The framers deliberately withheld from the president and the courts unilateral authority to plunge the nation into war. They wanted it as close to the people as possible so there would be accountability.
The rule of law is from God, and the Constitution is based on the rule of law. The separation of powers is scriptural, biblically speaking. The Constitution is not dead because it is gone. It is dead because it is not written in our hearts. If we expect to be ignorant and free, we expect what never was and never will be.
Lowell said we, the people, and the sovereign states, gave Congress that power. The Constitution is a piece of paper. We have the responsibility to elect public servants who understand and follow it. I said we can get rid of the whole House right now. All 435 clowns could be gone. But over 90 percent of incumbents get reelected, and that is on us.
Gun-Free Zones, Democracy, and Tomorrow Night
Finally, Lowell warned why elites love democracy and why you shouldn't. The word democracy is not in our founding documents. John Adams warned that unbridled majorities are as tyrannical and cruel as unlimited despots. Jefferson said elective despotism was not the government we fought for. I said another name for democracy is demon crazy. When nations jettison a constitutional republic based on God's laws, they eventually turn toward power, glory, and gain.
