Second U.S. Carrier Group Nears Korea

Oct 25, 2017

The U.S. Navy carrier strike group made up of the USS Theodore Roosevelt and its support and escort ships is closing in on the Korean peninsula. It is joining up with another carrier strike force under the lead of the USS Ronald Reagan. It is rare to have two carrier groups in this close proximity, but it underscores the seriousness of the threat posed by North Korea and its erratic leader Kim Jong Un.

This development comes along with the U.S. Air Force placing all of its B-52 nuclear bombers on 24 hr. alert status. That means that the bombers are fully armed, parked near the runway, and with the crews staying near the planes.
