Democrats Courting Psychologists Who Want To Remove Trump

Oct 25, 2017

Democrats are laying the foundation to remove President Trump from office using the 25th Amendment. Psychologist John Gartner created Duty to Warn, a “network of mental health experts” that are seeking to remove President Trump. The current practice of psychology does not permit the diagnosis of “public figures without any clinical evaluation.” The policy was put into place in the 1960s by the American Psychiatric Association after some psychologists warned that Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater was not fit for the presidency. “Gartner and his associates have not hesitated to diagnose the president in a variety of ways, with some surmising he is a sociopath, a narcissist, or suffers from a form of dementia.” Democrat Representative Jackie Spier tweeted in August that “POTUS is showing signs of erratic behavior and mental instability that place the country in grave danger. Time to invoke the 25th Amendment.” Psychologist Allen Frances opposes Duty to Warn saying, “We shouldn’t be confusing bad behavior with mental illness. When we do this, it reduces our ability to respond appropriately to bad behavior, and it stigmatizes the mentally ill.” Another retired therapist and Bernie Sanders supporter dismissed efforts by anti-Trump psychologist saying, “They are engaging in their own form of narcissism.”
