All five living former presidents came together to help raise money for hurricane victims. The campaign reportedly raise $31 million in private donations. Campaign organizers said 80,000 donors gave during Saturday’s event. Damage estimates for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria currently exceed $300 billion. It is expected that it will take years to rebuild and recover from the disasters. Hurricane Harvey battered the city of Houston, Texas for four days. It made a second landfall in Louisiana. Hurricane Irma hit the Florida Keys, Florida and moved north into Georgia and South Carolina. Hurricane Maria destroyed large parts of Puerto Rico taking out most of the electrical grid. Disasters from wildfires and tornadoes in the first half of the year totaled $12 billion in damage. While not there in person, President Trump also participated by a video message. He thanked his predecessors for their “tremendous assistance.”
