House Republicans Pass Historic Budget Resolution

Oct 6, 2017

Despite the fact that not one Democrat voted for it, the Republicans in the House of Representatives passed an historic budget for the year 2018 by a vote of 219-206. Eighteen Republicans voted against it. What makes the vote historic is the fact that it opens the door for passage of a tax reform and tax reduction plan through the reconciliation process. This means that if the Republicans in the Senate hold together the Democrats cannot use the 60 vote filibuster rule to stop it.

Democrats are determined to block any tax relief for American taxpayers and businesses, but Republicans are now in the driver’s seat. However, they cannot afford to have the defections in the Senate that sank the repeal of Obamacare.
