Investigators Meet With Former Spy Who Authored Trump Dossier

Oct 6, 2017

Investigators for Special Counsel Robert Mueller met with Christopher Steel, the former British spy who wrote the dossier on Donald Trump. Steele was hired by an opposition research firm to find dirt on candidate Trump. The report alleged that the Trump campaign “directly colluded it Russian operatives before the election. it also claims that the Kremlin used blackmail material against Trump.” Everyone mentioned in the dossier has dismissed it as fake. It is unknown how much the FBI relied upon the report, “though the FBI reportedly cited the document in an application for a surveillance warrant against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.” Steele has refused to meet with the Senate panel which is investigating allegations of Russian interference in the election. The committee chairman, Senator Richard Burr, said that committee members were “unable to assess the credibility of the dossier without talking to Steele.”
