Warning To North Korea From Mattis

Aug 10, 2017

Defense Secretary Mattis warned North Korea on Wednesday. In the warning he emphasized that the United States and its allies have the the capability to defend themselves from attack. Mattis exhorted Kim Jong Un to listen to the UN’s Security Council’s “unified voice” and the governments of the world who agree that North Korea “poses a threat to global security and stability.” Mattis said that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea “must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons. The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.” James Mattis is known as someone with “significant credibility in the business of breaking things and killing people.” The warning indicates that military options are on the table if North Korea continues on its current trajectory. Will China now pressure North Korea to stand down?
