Social Security Paid Over $1 Billion to People with no SS Numbers

Jul 17, 2017

The Inspector General for the Social Security Administration has reported that over the last decade the administration has paid out at least one billion dollars in benefits to payees for people that receive money on behalf of individuals who cannot handle their own benefits.

The problem is that none of the payees had social security numbers, which is a violation of federal law. The investigation also found that none of the original paperwork had been kept, as also required by law. It is believed that many of these payees may be illegal aliens and if nothing changes the payouts of taxpayer dollars will continue.
