Russian Attorney Spent Big With Taxpayer Dollars

Jul 17, 2017

The Russian attorney at the center of an investigation into Donald Trump Jr. was in the United States for three days in October 2015 for depositions. After the federal judge in the case ruled that the federal government would reimburse her costs for the trip, attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya managed to incur $50,365.72 in expenses. She switched hotels, finding one for $995 a night and presided over a $793.29 dinner for five individuals. Additionally, she was reimbursed for airfare and interpreter services. During her work she was neither deposed nor did she attend the depositions in person. When people have to pay their own expenses they are far more frugal. When taxpayers are underwriting the cost, people spend with reckless abandon.
