Migrant Politics in Poland

Jul 12, 2017

The Polish political party, Civic Platform, announced plans to reveal a “list of cities and regions which are willing to host migrants.” However, the plan fell through as local political leaders refused to support the plan. Poland has refused to allow Muslim migrants to be settled in its territory. Political leaders have pointed out the terror attacks in other European cities as a reason to refuse the resettlement of Islamic migrants. Civic Party spokesman Jan Grabiec said, “We want Europeans to know that Poles are not racists who are afraid of refugees.” A recent survey of Polish citizens found 57 percent of those interviewed would rather give up EU development funds than to give up control of its borders.
