Healthcare Sparring

Jul 12, 2017

The U.S. Senate will stay in session an additional two weeks to work on developing a health care bill that will have the support of 50 Senators. A group of 80 conservatives have created their wishlist of items to be included in a revised bill. Conservatives want more consumer choice, real flexibility for Medicaid, free market principles in the healthcare market, and control the long-term spending of Medicaid. Conservatives are also interested in the Curz-Lee amendment that gives healthcare companies the ability to offer non-compliant Obamacare healthcare plans alongside compliant plans. Some conservatives are recommending that Obamacare be fully repealed and that replacement legislation be considered later.
