Restoration of Freedoms in Texas

Jul 11, 2017

Texas will soon allow citizens to carry knives with blades longer than 5.5 inches in public. The new law will take effect on September 1st. The legislation repeals the ban on daggers, including dirks, stilettos and poniards, swords, spears and, Bowie knives. Restricted areas include schools, colleges, prisons, churches and bars. Minors will not be able to carry the knives. Speaking of the legislation, State Representative John Frullo said, “It’s not making criminals out of people who have no intention of creating some type of criminal act.” While it will be your right to carry a long knife with you, they are cumbersome and it’s doubtful many people will choose to do this.
