Representative Jason Chaffetz announced in April that he would not be running for re-election. On Thursday, Chaffetz announced that he would be resigning from Congress on June 30th. Chaffetz chairs the House Oversight Committee which is looking into aspects of Comey’s firing. Chaffetz asked that Comey’s memos be turned over to the committee and invited the former director to testify next week. Chaffetz has been criticized for not investigating the Trump Administration with the same aggressiveness as he did with the Obama Administration. Chaffetz is leaving Congress to be closer to his family.
