Will Laptops Be Banned on International Flights?

May 19, 2017

Iraqi special forces found evidence that ISIS has been testing new types of explosives that can be hidden in laptop computers. The explosives are not detectable with current security screening equipment. Discussions about banning laptop computers on flights from Europe and Britain to the Unites States are ongoing. Officials in the US and EU have agreed to increase the sharing of information. Currently there is a ban on electronic devices bigger than a cell phone on flights originating from 10 Middle East airports. There have been several reports of electronics with lithium-ion batteries overheating and catching on fire. Would putting laptop computers in the cargo section of the plane be a safety hazard?
