The massive cyberattack that started last Friday has continued and expanded with over 100,000 organizations in over 150 countries now affected. Organizations in the United States have now been affected as was feared, but so far on a limited basis. No particular source of the attacks has been identified, and multiple sources are still suspected.
It is also clear that the malware being used originated in the United States, apparently with the National Security Agency. If that is in fact the case then the information was probably leaked by someone inside the U.S. government, and that is a federal crime and possibly even rises to the level of treason. This will be the case if some foreign nation or group like ISIS is using this to extort money and/or damage the interests of the United States.
