Just days after major insurance companies Aetna and Humana announced they were pulling out of the Obamacare exchanges entirely, state insurance commissioners in some states have already started receiving requests for premium price hikes next year. Virginia and Maryland have reported requests for premium increases from 10% to over 50%.
These requests are coming amid the increasing loss of competition among the remaining companies. At least 40% of the counties in the country will have only one insurance company remaining in the markets, and some will have none at all, leaving consumers with virtually no options for purchasing health insurance under Obamacare that democrats continue to defend.
