ICE Leads Round-up of Gang Members

May 12, 2017

Over the past six weeks the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) has led a task force of federal, state, and local agencies in a nationwide round-up of known gang members. This is the largest such operation ever conducted and has netted a total of 1,378 gang members accused of drug and sex trafficking, murder and rape, weapons smuggling and racketeering as well as immigration violations.

ICE reports that 933 of the individuals arrested were U.S. citizens while 445 were citizens from other countries all over the world and most were here illegally. During the course of this operation Attorney General Jeff Sessions publicly declared war on violent gangs such as MS-13.
