After a week of bashing the Russians and suffering a diplomatic cold shoulder in Moscow, Trump played down the differences on Thursday in a tweet,
“Things will work out fine between the U.S.A. and Russia. At the right time everyone will come to their senses & there will be lasting peace!”
As the Hill.com said, “Trump’s tweet comes after he signaled a more aggressive approach toward Moscow, Syrian leader Bashar Assad’s main ally, after the chemical attack — backing away from his campaign promise to forge better ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
Others continue to wonder at Trump’s ability to reverse course so easily without any sense that such reversals are a sign of inconsistency and unpredictable---which makes the world very nervous.
